Policies, privacy and customer protection
Clear responsibilities before anything is ordered.
This hub explains how Second Story Studio handles enquiries, personal information, commissions, products and independent Corner businesses. Catalogue totals are estimates, not orders. We discuss and agree the full scope, final price and timescale before requesting payment. Final contractual documents are confirmed before payment or work begins.
Second Story Studio is operated by James Seymour, who is also the data controller. The current business and service address is 18 Woodcote Ave, Hornchurch, Essex RM12 4PZ. Privacy and general contact enquiries can be sent to info@lljsecondstorystudio.co.uk.
Privacy notice
Only information needed for the genuine relationship.
Second Story Studio may receive a name, email address, telephone number, delivery or collection details, enquiry and order information, photographs, artwork, personal stories and communications when necessary to answer an enquiry, prepare a quotation, fulfil an agreed project, keep required business records or respond to a legal issue.
Information may come directly from you, from an agreed representative, through the email you prepare on this website, or through a selling platform used for a transaction. The website catalogue keeps product selections and option notes in session storage in your browser tab for this visit. Contact details entered in the enquiry builder are not saved to that storage. The website contact form opens your own email application; it does not submit the message into a public website database.
Controller and contact
Second Story Studio is the public studio name and is operated by James Seymour. James Seymour is the data controller. The current business and service address is 18 Woodcote Ave, Hornchurch, Essex RM12 4PZ. Privacy questions and rights requests can be sent to info@lljsecondstorystudio.co.uk. An invited external user will receive the applicable controller, purpose, lawful-basis, retention and rights information when invited.
Invited accounts and business spaces
For invited studio, Partner and Market accounts, we also process email addresses, authentication identifiers, account roles and status, invitation and activation dates, and records of acknowledged Corner principles. Business profiles, draft listings, moderation decisions and activity records support the management and security of those spaces. Public business profile content is separate from private login information.
The website uses Supabase for authentication and Cloudflare-backed hosting and database services through Sites. Enquiries sent by email are handled in our business email service. Provider arrangements, relevant transfer information and the detailed retention schedule must be completed before the affected processing is widened. No customer information is sold. Marketing messages require a separate valid permission or another documented lawful basis; an enquiry is not automatic marketing consent.
How it is used
- To take requested steps before entering a contract.
- To perform an agreed order, commission or service.
- To meet accounting, safety and other legal obligations.
- For proportionate interests such as project records, security and resolving disputes.
- For public portfolio or promotional use only with separate permission.
Information is shared only where necessary with an approved service, supplier, delivery provider, professional adviser or legal authority. Payment information is handled by the named payment or selling provider.
Records are kept only as long as needed for the enquiry, contract, legal record, safety evidence or dispute. You may ask about access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability or withdrawal of consent by emailing info@lljsecondstorystudio.co.uk. Some records must be retained where a legal obligation or continuing claim applies. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner. Identity may need to be checked before a rights request is fulfilled, but only proportionate information should be requested.
Customer terms
An enquiry is not an order.
A contract begins only when the exact scope, seller or service provider, specification, supplied items, price, deposit, timing, delivery or collection method and applicable terms have been confirmed and accepted in writing.
Standard products, personalised products, bespoke work and creative/design services have different cancellation and approval points. Services will be provided with reasonable care and skill. Changes outside an approved scope may change price and timing, but are not made without agreement.
Deposits and staged payments must be proportionate to committed work, ordered materials and agreed risk. These terms never remove statutory consumer rights.
Before a distance order, the customer must receive the confirmed legal trader details and service address, the main characteristics, total price including applicable taxes, payment and delivery arrangements, cancellation information, complaint route and any contract duration or continuing cost. The agreed terms must then be supplied in a durable form such as email.
Returns, refunds and cancellation
No blanket ‘no refunds’ rule.
Rights depend on what was bought, how it was bought and whether work has started. For most standard distance-sale goods, a consumer normally has 14 days after delivery to notify cancellation and a further 14 days to return the goods. A genuinely personalised or made-to-specification item may be excluded from change-of-mind cancellation, but not from remedies if faulty, misdescribed or not provided with reasonable care and skill.
If a customer asks a service to begin during a statutory cancellation period, that early-start request and any payment consequence must be expressly recorded.
Delivery and collection
The route and responsibility are agreed before payment.
Availability, dispatch estimate, packaging, delivery cost, delivery area, collection arrangement and responsibility for customer-supplied property are confirmed for the exact order. Delivery is charged according to the agreed item, weight, size and route; combined or reduced delivery is applied where genuinely available.
Most second-hand items will be sold through eBay and follow the live listing and seller terms. Market and externally selling Partner businesses control their own sales, payment, collection, delivery, returns and aftercare.
Property, images and creative material
Permission to make is not permission to publish.
Before accepting customer property, the project record should identify the owner, item, photographs, condition, known value or sentimental importance, agreed work, risks, supplied components and return or collection route.
Anyone supplying photographs, logos, artwork, stories or other material must confirm ownership or permission for the agreed project. Permission to fulfil a commission is separate from permission to publish the customer, story, source material or finished work on the website, in a portfolio or on social media.
Safe and lawful material
Do not send unlawful, sexually explicit or non-consensual intimate material, threats, abusive content, or sexual material involving anyone under 18. If Second Story Studio receives suspected child sexual abuse material or information indicating an immediate risk to someone, it will be reported to the police or another appropriate authority. Other suspected criminal material may be preserved and disclosed where necessary and proportionate, or where the law requires it. Only the information relevant to that purpose will be shared.
All vehicles are for illustrative purposes only. No car is included. Condition, scale, value and handling instructions should be recorded before valuable models are accepted.
Partners and Market Corner
Relationship and advertising remain distinct.
Partners Corner is limited to genuine working relationships. Market Corner provides managed subscription mini-sites to independent businesses and does not make them Partners or make Second Story Studio their seller.
Each named business remains responsible for its identity, claims, permissions, intellectual property, safety, compliance, prices, availability, sales, payment, fulfilment, delivery, returns and customer service unless a written project agreement expressly states otherwise.
Market subscriptions require separate terms covering level, setup, monthly payment, promotional period, renewal, cancellation, content allowance, approvals and removal. The 40% launch reduction applies only when the first 12 months are paid in full annually in advance. Monthly payments remain at the standard monthly fee, and setup remains full price. To qualify, the customer must join and pay for the first year between 14 September and 24 December 2026 inclusive.
A separate limited Design & Digital promotion applies to eligible standard items agreed between 14 September and 24 December 2026 inclusive: 20% off for the general public or 30% off for an active, paying Market Corner customer. The reductions do not combine. Third-party costs are excluded, and bespoke or separately quoted work is not automatically reduced. The Studio is closed from 25 December 2026 to 1 January 2027 inclusive, and standard prices resume on 2 January 2027. Eligibility, scope and the adjusted price must be confirmed in the written quotation.
Accessibility
A site intended to work for more people.
The website uses structured headings, descriptive links, labelled controls, keyboard-operable navigation and text alternatives for meaningful images. Colour, focus visibility, zoom, small-screen layout and media controls form part of the launch checks.
If content or a function is difficult to use, email info@lljsecondstorystudio.co.uk and describe the page and support needed.
Pre-launch guidance does not replace the final customer-specific quotation, contract or independent legal review. See the ICO privacy-information guidance , ICO cookie guidance and GOV.UK distance-selling guidance .
